Rotary Club of Dearborn announces Honorary Committee for 100^th Anniversary Celebration

Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud to serve as chairperson

Dearborn, Mich., August 29, 2022 – The Rotary Club of Dearborn recently announced the Honorary Committee members and chair of its 100^th anniversary celebration to be held on March 18, 2023.

Themed “100 years of Service Above Self,” the club will host a delightful strolling dinner and musical concert extravaganza with Detroit’s Queen of Blues, Thornetta Davis, who will open for the internationally recognized Dennis Edwards’ Temptations Review. The event will be held at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.

Chairing the Honorary Committee is Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud with community leaders and friends Ismael Ahmed, member of the National Endowment of the Arts; Wayne County Commissioner Sam Baydoun; Dr. Fatima Beydoun, physician and wife of Mayor Hammoud; Sandra and Paul Butler, Dearborn Symphony Orchestra benefactors; Michael Angelo Caruso, Rotarian, author and speaker; Michigan Third Circuit Court Judge Susan Dabaja; University of Michigan-Dearborn Chancellor Domenico Grasso; U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell; 19^th District Court Chief Judge Gene Hunt; Roberta Katona, first woman Dearborn Rotary president 1994-95; Henry Ford College President Russ Kavalhuna; Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Glenn Maleyko; State Senator Sylvia Santana; and Rotary 2022-23 District 6400 Governor Traci Sincock.

“We are delighted to have the support from so many individuals throughout our community and other Rotarians who are graciously supporting our club’s significant achievement of 100 years of community service,” said Colleen Nieman, 2022-23 Rotary Club of Dearborn co-president with Shannon Peterson.

Funds raised from the 100^th Anniversary celebration in March 2023 will be used to help renovate the auditorium of Dearborn’s Henry Ford Centennial Library, making it more accessible to individuals and groups.
