  An important element of Dearborn Rotary’s five year strategic plan is our commitment to the purchase of two Shelter Boxes annually. At this time we are only a few hundred dollars away from meeting that goal.

Each Shelter Box provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world, including the U.S., who are affected by disasters, at the time when they need it the most.

Each large, green Shelter Box is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, groundsheets, water storage and filtration equipment, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

At the regular meeting of Thursday, May 16, a novel program to introduce the reality of Shelter Box and to raise the last few hundred dollars needed, will take place.

A mock-auction of individual Shelter Box items can be purchased by generous high bidders. Auction items will include: Tool Kit, a Stove and Stainless Steel Cooking Utensils, Blankets and a Family Tent. Your high bid will purchase an item needed to complete a shelter box and your generosity will be recognized with a recognition gift from a local merchant.

Bring cash, check, credit card or your personal pledge of funds to participate.

A complete Shelter Box, including the family tent and all its supplies will be on display at the May 16^th meeting. Arrive early and inspect the Shelter Box.
